The Gravity Media Group (GMG), which operates globally and acquires businesses serving the live broadcast sector, has appointed Nicholas Smith in its newly created role of marketing director. Nicholas will oversee all marketing activities for GMG’s family of industry-leading companies, which includes Gearhouse Broadcast, Gearhouse Actis and Hyperactive Broadcast. These businesses are trusted by the world’s most respected broadcasters, production companies and rights holders to supply technical equipment, facilities and services to capture the most watched live and near-live content.

With over 10 years’ experience of operating in sports and broadcast marketing, Nicholas has worked for the likes of ESPN across EMEA, Laureus World Sports Awards and Sport for Good Foundation globally and Digicel SportsMax in the Caribbean. More recently, he worked at brand agency WeAreFearless in London.

During his years at ESPN, Nicholas managed brand, acquisition, retention and engagement marketing campaigns across the EMEA region before leading a rebrand and new channel launches across the Caribbean for Digicel SportsMax. He joins Gravity Media Group at an exciting time for the business as it focuses on global expansion after receiving significant investment from TowerBrook Capital Partners in September 2016. The strategy is to grow the business organically via strategic acquisitions and by continually supporting clients with the very best services globally.

“Nicholas brings a wealth of digital knowledge and brand awareness into this role that’s been created to help us continue to grow our presence globally,” said John Newton, ceo of Gravity Media Group. “The development of strategic digital partnerships, client services and content creation are all focuses for 2017 so his knowledge of that space will be invaluable.”

Commenting on his appointment, Nicholas said: “This is an exciting new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to using my global branding, content creation and digital expertise to help showcase how Gravity Media Group’s businesses are helping to capture the world’s most watched content. Joining the company at a time where expansion and client satisfaction are the key drivers is an exciting prospect and one of the things that makes this new position so interesting.”

GMG’s Gearhouse Broadcast will be exhibiting on stand K18 at BVE 2017 with partner Aperi.
