New Headset, Mic, Wireless Workbench Version Lead Shure Offerings
Shure (Booth C1058) is unveiling its BRH50M premium dual-sided broadcast headset, MOTIV MVL lavalier microphone, and Wireless Workbench 6.11 this week.
Available in the fall, the BRH50M introduces a modern design for on-camera use and premium sound quality, suitable for broadcast and media-production professionals at every level. Sleek, lightweight, comfortable, and durable, with superior audio quality, the Shure BRH50M is constructed to meet the demanding needs of professional users throughout the broadcast industry.
“Designing an on-camera product is a bit of a balancing act,” says Matt Engstrom, category director, wired products. “Although on-camera aesthetic appeal is certainly a critical factor, it was important to develop a product that looked great on-camera without sacrificing sound quality, comfort, or durability. After extensive testing with the NFL and NBA, we’re confident the BRH50M delivers on all four of those factors, without requiring users to forfeit any aspect of product performance.”
The high-performance dynamic microphone features a cardioid polar pattern and frequency response optimized for natural and intelligible voice reproduction. Its durable and rigid boom pivots 270 degrees for left- or right-side wear.
The closed-back supra-aural design offers media-production professionals a low-profile look and feel, and a fully adjustable headband ensures a comfortable, ergonomic fit through long hours of wear. A variety of accessories are available with the BRH50M, including user-replaceable ear pads, a replacement windscreen, and a ¼-XLR dual detachable cable. Other detachable cable options are available for connecting to a variety of devices.
MOTIV MVL Lavalier Mic
The latest addition to the company’s MOTIV line of digital-recording solutions, the MVL omnidirectional condenser lavalier microphone is suitable for capturing quality audio for field recording, dictation, news reporting, audio/video recording, and more. It connects directly to any iOS and Android device for convenience and mobility. The MVL is designed to be used with Shure’s newest iOS app, ShurePlus MOTIV mobile recording app, which offers features for high-quality digital recording on-the-go and enables users to share audio files by e-mail and text.
With a user-friendly tie-clip, the MVL lavalier microphone can be positioned directly near the mouth for increased audio clarity. The standard ⅛-in. plug connection (TRRS), through the headphone jack, permits instant recording to an iOS or Android device. Eliminating the need for a handheld microphone and offering an upgrade to standard smartphone recording, the MVL is specifically designed for close-miking situations. It is designed to offer an improved user experience, revealing less noise and sensitivity in the circuit, optimal RF immunity, and decreased susceptibility to clipping.
The MVL will be available this summer priced at $69.
Wireless Workbench 6.11
Available for download late this month, Wireless Workbench 6.11 includes several new features to help manage every facet of wireless system performance over the network, from preshow planning to live-performance monitoring.
To improve workflow efficiency, it includes inventory batch edits, enabling parameters to be modified for a group of devices or channels at the same time. Users benefit from quick and easy configuration of naming, color-coding, and other parameters for multiple channels.
The Coordination Workspace enables frequency calculations for subsets of wireless inventory before deployment. A ranked list of compatible frequencies can be manually assigned to desired channels from this workspace as well.
An improved monitoring interface displays all channels with a common channel-strip layout. Channel strips can be customized using the Channel Strip Designer and arranged into various layouts. Multiple channel-strip arrangements can be stored in views and used to monitor a customized group of channels.
“Version 6.11 is the biggest release of Wireless Workbench to date,” says Nick Wood, director, wireless category. “From batch parameter changes on multiple devices to sandboxed frequency coordination using the new Coordination Workspace, Wireless Workbench 6.11 continues to set the standard for monitoring and control of networked wireless systems. It significantly enhances several Shure wireless products, saving users time and providing solutions requested by our customers.”
Wireless Workbench 6.11 is compatible with the Shure Axient wireless management network, UHF-R wireless systems, ULX-D digital wireless systems, QLX-D digital wireless systems, and PSM 1000 personal monitoring systems. The new version will be available for download at www.shure.com/software.
Wireless Workbench 6.11 is supported on Windows 7 and 8 as well as on Mac OS 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, and 10.10.
