Norkring Picks Nevion Solutions for Coverage of Elite Football in Sweden

Norwegian media-services provider Norkring has selected Nevion’s (Booth SU2615) network-management solution and media gateways for a new football contribution network in Sweden. Nevion’s VideoIPath management system and TVG450 JPEG 2000 media gateways will be used to transport high-quality live coverage from 32 Swedish football stadiums to broadcasters including TV4 and CMore over an IP contribution network.

The project is a result of Norkring’s recent multiyear agreement with the Swedish Football League (SEF) to deliver football from Sweden’s Allsvenskan and Superettan leagues.

VideoIPath network-management system

Nevion’s media service management system, VideoIPath enables Norkring to set up occasional-use services easily and rapidly through automated provisioning, as well as to monitor the network and services effectively.

Nevion’s VideoIPath combines network inventory and monitoring capabilities with network provisioning and advance reservation — all essential for managing services effectively. VideoIPath features easy-to-use GUI and multi-tenanting, enabling non-specialists to easily take control of connection requirements.

TVG450 media gateway is a compact, efficient, and cost-effective solution for professional video transport over IP networks. It offers visually lossless compression that is resilient to multigeneration encoding or decoding of SD, HD, 3G, or stereoscopic 3D. Built-in Quality of Service (QoS) and advanced error concealment provide flawless end-to-end operation.

The TVG450 solution is already in use in Norkring’s Norway-based workflow to transmit live handball, ice-hockey, and football coverage.

Nevion was recently awarded a Technical and Engineering Emmy Award for its role in the standardization and productization of JPEG2000 (J2K) interoperability. The company will showcase its latest network and broadcast infrastructure solutions at its NAB 2015 booth.
