Olympic news round-up

Olympic Logo - classic varietySeveral interesting stories doing the rounds today. The BBC reports on both the Olympic Village finally being handed over to the organisers and that the theme for the Opening Ceremony has been announced as Isles of Wonder. “Europe’s largest bell will ring to start a £27m Olympic opening ceremony inspired by Shakespeare and featuring NHS nurses and 900 local pupils,” it reports. “The show’s artistic director, Danny Boyle, said the ‘Isles of Wonder’ ceremony was inspired by The Tempest.”

No word yet on whether the Ceremony will be captured in 3D or not.

And tempest being exactly what’s occurring as Inside The Games reports that Brazil wants a giant replica of Christ the Redeemer on Primrose Hill to celebrate Rio 2016. Local residents are less than enthused…
