Hiltron adds satellite-link monitor

A completely new addition to the Hiltron product range, the HMCS D-SNG satellite-link monitor and control software is an intuitive and cost-efficient system developed for use in latest-generation high-definition D-SNG vehicles.

“The HMCS gives DSNG operators user-friendly assistance of their uplink procedure,” states Hiltron Managing Director Dr Michael Schiestl. “An operator can perform a complete communication system lineup within one minute. Integral auto-pointing capabilities allow a satellite feed between two ground locations to be established quickly and easily.

Using a modern graphical user interface with colour-coded alarm message handling, the HMCS provides a highly intuitive and efficient line-up procedure for professional satellite systems. This includes full control of contribution encoders such as the MPEG-2/MPEG-4 Ericcson Voyager II. It also integrates completely with our recently introduced HSACU D-SNG controller. An integral database stores specific satellite transponder and encoding profiles. HMCS can also control additional customer-specified satellite communications and video equipment.

“The HMCS is highly cost efficient for any new HD DSNG truck as well as being an ideal replacement for an older satellite link control system. Authored in Java, is compatible with Linux, Apple OSX, and Microsoft Windows (XP, 2007, Server 2003/2008) operating systems.”

Drivers available for the HMCS include Newtec NTC22xx, AZ110, M6100 and Ericsson Voyager II modulators, Ericsson Voyager II encoders, Ericsson RX8200, RX1290, TT1260 IRDs, ETL Victor L-Band matrix, Hiltron HCS redundancy controller and the NARDA NRA spectrum analyser. The HMCS is supplied with a driver for the Hiltron HSACU antenna control unit. Alternative ACU drivers are available on request.
