Para sport classification graphics system, Lexi, will be integrated into the international host broadcast feed for the 2026 Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships.
Taking place in Poznań, Poland, from 26 to 30 August, the deployment of Lexi marks the third time this season that Paddle Worldwide has incorporated Lexi classification graphics into its broadcast host feed, following the Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cups in Brandenburg and Montreal.
Lexi uses simple on-screen graphics to explain Para sport classification, giving viewers an immediate visual indication of how an athlete’s available movement affects their ability to perform in their sport.
For the organisers, incorporating the graphics at host-feed level means the classification explanation can be made available directly to broadcasters taking the international feed, rather than requiring individual rights-holders to develop their own explanation.
Giles Long, CEO and founder of Lexi, said: “What’s particularly exciting for us is seeing classification explanation become part of the host broadcast itself.
“Broadcasters have always faced the same challenge with Para sport: how do you explain classification quickly without interrupting the coverage? If that explanation can be built into the world feed at source, it becomes much easier for broadcasters and, ultimately, much easier for viewers.
“Poznań will be our third host-feed event with the organisers this year, so we’re starting to see this become a repeatable part of the production rather than a one-off.”
The Poznań deployment follows another major event for Lexi this summer, with the system also used as part of the in-venue presentation at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Long added: “We’re now seeing the same classification language working in different parts of the fan experience – on television, on the host feed and inside the venue. The technology is relatively simple; the important part is giving audiences the right information at the right moment.”
The 2026 Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships takes place at Poznań’s Malta Regatta Course from 26 to 30 August.
