Elemental Technologies has announced the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at the 2016 NAB Show raised more than $35,500 in donations for global and local charitable organisations. Held on April 19 in Sunset Park, Las Vegas, the event drew more than 550 registrants and saw increases in the number of companies participating and individual contributions as compared to last year.
Sponsorship opportunities for the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at IBC 2016 will open on May 6, 2016. The deadline for sponsorship commitments is July 15, 2016. Enquiries may be directed to [email protected].
“With industry leaders from 187 countries and 103,000 attendees, the 2016 NAB Show unleashed media technology advancements that will have an enduring impact,” said Chris Brown, executive vice president, Conventions and Business Operations at NAB. “Among these innovations, the 4K 4Charity Fun Run shines brightly. This event is creating a legacy that extends from the media industry to those in need around the world and within the Las Vegas community. We look forward to seeing this event grow.”
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run at the 2016 NAB Show was supported by premier sponsors Aspera (an IBM Company), Sony and Verimatrix, medal sponsor Dolby, executive sponsors Brightcove and Comcast, and supporting sponsors IneoQuest and Xstream. NAB Show was the official association sponsor for the 4K 4Charity Fun Run, and NewBay Media and Rapid TV News were the exclusive media partners for the event.
“The 4K 4Charity Fun Run has received an overwhelmingly positive response at the 2015 and 2016 NAB Shows. We are deeply appreciative for the generous support from NAB, our corporate and media partner sponsors, and individual registrants,” said Laura Barber, director of field marketing and publicity for Elemental. “Every year, we see increased support, participation and donations. This is an event and purpose that resonates with the industry and one which we are honored to grow.”
The top five companies by registrations and donations were Elemental, Dolby, Aspera, EVS and Verimatrix. The 4km (2.49-mile) race commemorated major video achievements across the media and entertainment industry and raised funds for Mercy Corps, a global relief organization that strives to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. A portion of 4K 4Charity Fun Run proceeds were allocated to The Shade Tree, a Las Vegas-based charity that provides safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis.
