Abekas joins SVG Europe as Gold Sponsor

SVG Europe is pleased to announce that Abekas is the latest company to join the roster of Gold Sponsors. Abekas designs, manufactures, sells, and supports a line of professional HD/SD digital video/audio equipment. The product line includes: digital video/audio production servers; digital video/audio delay machines for live-broadcast profanity elimination; digital video/audio disk recorders; digital video special effects systems; and digital video/audio editing equipment.

Abekas equipment is intended for use in the worldwide professional television marketplace encompassing live production, post production, live broadcasting and computer video markets. Abekas, Incorporated is a privately-held company headquartered in the city of Menlo Park, California.

In live sports production, the company is perhaps best known for its Mira Instant Replay. This model of Mira is optimised to handle the very high bandwidth demands of non-stop recording from multiple cameras, with simultaneous instant replay on one or two output video channels.

At IBC 2015 Abekas announced that Ullevaal Media Center installed Mira Instant Replay servers to feed Ullevaal Media Center’s national broadcast partner, YouTube, the national football team’s Topfotball  website, and a 10m (33 foot) wide video screen in the studio.

The nature of simulcast games means the broadcast infrastructure needs flexibility. This is one of the primary reasons Ullevaal Media Center chose Abekas Mira Instant Replay servers—ultimately installing two separate eight-channel Mira servers, each with two Mira Control Surface panels which allows each server to be operated in dual-user mode. Each Mira server is configured with native AVC-Intra recording, and each Mira server stores up to 180 hours of recorded media content.

The Abekas Mira Production Server is tailored for live television production tasks, whether based in the studio or in the confines of a mobile television production truck. Recording and playback of multiple high-quality video signals is an essential requirement, along with fast media file ingest and export.
