Aspera intros direct-to-cloud storage transfer

Aspera will introduce the first-ever direct-to-cloud storage transfer capability for giant file sets, Aspera On-Demand Direct-to-S3, to overcome the WAN and I/O bottlenecks of traditional cloud transfer solutions, achieving up to 10x the typical transfer speeds to and from the Amazon S3 Simple Storage Service.

The new product tops a list of enhancements available at IBC that include the ability to deliver up to 10x performance gains over TCP on 4G networks via the latest Aspera fasp-AIR mobile platform that also now includes embeddable client SDKs and mobile apps for Google Android and Apple iOS devices.

At the conference, Aspera will highlight the latest versions of its full suite of file transfer products based on its patented fasp transport technology in addition to displaying other new products and solutions.

Topping the list is Aspera Sync, designed to overcome the bottlenecks of conventional synchronisation tools and scale up for maximum speed replication and synchronisation over WANs, for today’s largest file stores.

Also look for the new faspframes application, a simple software tool for ultra-fast and fully reliable transfers of 2K/4K frames files over WAN, delivering 10 Gbps performance with comprehensive bandwidth control and seamless integration with Aspera transfer management tools.

And Aspera Orchestrator, a Web-based application and SDK platform for creating and managing automated file transfer workflows, has now been enhanced to a complete open development framework with a rich and growing suite of third-party plug-ins for designing and integrating highly predictable and efficient file processing and automation pipelines in support of global content delivery.

Lastly, fasp-MC is a new and now available patent-pending point-to-multipoint transport protocol for IP multicast networks, bringing the speed and bandwidth efficiency of Aspera technology to multicast distribution applications.
