Audio networking in the spotlight at one-day London conference

ANF LogoPresented by Resolution magazine, the Audio Networking Forum will be held at RIBA in Portland Place, London, on 12 December. The one-day event will combine ample networking opportunities with high-level analysis, debate and discussion of audio networking production workflows.

“No area of professional audio has remained untouched by the potential of audio networking,” said conference organiser Zenon Schoepe. “Anyone who thinks that audio networking won’t impact on their work doesn’t understand it. This is core technological change that will alter attitudes and working methods forever. The Forum will explain the technology and give examples of how it’s being used today while also giving a glimpse into how it will develop across the industry in the future.”

Audio consultant and AES standards manager Mark Yonge is chairman of the Audio Networking Forum and will open the programme with a ‘This Is Audio Networking’ presentation that will explain core networking technology and structure and how it works. It will also introduce the available audio networking types, what they are, and how they fit together.

Other speakers and topics on the day will include: Jan Eveleens, CEO of Axon Digital and pro video segment chair for AVnu Alliance, discussing Audio/Video Bridging (AVB); Andreas Hildebrand from ALC Networx explaining the route to market and adoption of Ravenna; Calrec’s Patrick Warrington giving perspective and context to a variety of networking technologies; DiGiCo’s Dan Page on live event examples of networking implementation; Gil Wasserman from Waves Audio on how SoundGrid is used on live production and studio applications; and Merging Technologies; Claude on real-world, large-scale applications of Ravenna networking in recording.

Schoepe emphasised the relevance of the summit to broadcast professionals: “Broadcasters are at the front of the line to enjoy the benefits of audio networking due to the scale, complexity and cost of their typical fixed and temporary installations. Remote working, sharing resources and increasing efficiencies are integral to the wide scale adoption of networking and in sports events – where audio isn’t always given the priority that it perhaps deserves – this adds power to creative sound. The Audio Networking Forum will address all these issues and will appeal immediately to broadcast audio professionals who want to know how their job description is going to develop.”
