Audio@WorldCup: Clear-Com achieves blanket coverage at World Cup stadia

Clear-Com has confirmed to SVG Europe that its systems will be used at all 12 World Cup venues – ranging from the smallest, Arena da Baixada, with 37,634 seats, right up to the largest, Maracanã, with a seated capacity of 37,634. Its communications technology will be interconnected via IVC-32 and VoICE units.

Specific deployments will include Clear-Com Tempest wireless intercom systems for the opening ceremonies at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo. In addition, Brazilian television network TV Globo’s OB truck, HD1 – which has been fitted with extensive quantities of Clear-Com product – will be transmitting games from the Arena Corinthians.

Indeed, TV Globo will be making use of Clear-Com systems at multiple facilities, situated in Brasilia, Minas Gerais, Recife, São Paulo and Rio. At the last-named location, the Clear-Com inventory includes four Eclipse Omegas interconnected by E-FIB, together with an Eclipse Media at the IBC, interconnected to TV Globo through an E-QUE E1 trunk line.

Each matrix system features IVC-32 to connect with v-series panels around Brazil, while approximately 60 VoICE units are on hand for interconnecting additional sites.

Joao Pedro Homem, senior systems engineer for local Clear-Com distributor Savana Comunicacoes, comments: “As Clear-Com’s longstanding Brazilian broadcast distributor, we have once again collaborated on TV Globo’s complex, multi-location, hook-up requirements. Clear-Com’s extensive experience and involvement at large global events […] will result in a complete and seamless IP and wireless [solution], all coming together to ensure a perfect result.”

Alongside TV Globo, other broadcasters set to utilise Clear-Com systems over the next month in Brazil include ESPN Brasil, Camera 2, TV Bahia, TV Amazonas, Radio Itatiaia, RBS TV, TV Centro América, TV Cabugi, TV RPC, TV Anhanguera and TV Gazeta do Espirito Santo.
