Axon to debut new SynCross router

Axon Digital Design will showcase a new router solution. SynCross embodies an Axon product – small, light, and smart.  Developed in response to customers’ needs, SynCross is a Synapse-based modular video routing system capable of switching 3Gb/s, HD and SD SDI signals, as well as compressed domain signals such as ASI/DVB and SSI/SMPTE-310.

The SynCross routing system occupies just one slot in Axon’s Synapse frame for an 8 input/ 8 output system, whilst up to five slots for a system with 40 inputs and outputs. According to the company, it is simple to expand a SynCross system up to 40 inputs and outputs (square and non-square), either digital, analogue video, HDMI, or a mix of these options.

The routing system can be controlled via Ethernet, Cortex Control Panels or by Cortex – the company’s  software-based monitoring and control system. ACP and a RS422 port is available for control via third-party automation systems. SynCross utilizes a special interconnection board which integrates two, three, four, or five separate connector panels to create a single sophisticated routing system.

“AXON celebrates its 25th anniversary this year – over this period, we have established a position at the leading edge of technical development within the markets we serve,” commented Peter Schut, CTO at Axon.  “The majority of our product portfolio has been developed with a significant customer input, and so it is with SynCross. This powerful routing solution is scalable and highly cost-effective – we are confident that it will be a highlight of the show for us.”
