Behind the scenes with sports graphics specialist Unidea: part one

Unidea is one of the most important companies in Italy in the landscape of communication, broadcasting and major events. Its core business ranges from creative and editorial projects to the realisation and production of TV graphics formats for sports events on major television networks.

Fabio Pastore is the sole owner of Unidea, Alessio Viscione is responsible for coordination and technical director in Rome, while Fabio Vettrice performs the same functions in the Milan area.

After opening for business circa 2000, TV production by Unidea has expanded considerably in recent years to encompass the whole Italian territory. An integral part of the structure is formed by a team of professional experts spread all over the country that form, in practice, a network of operators to which Unidea provides turnkey equipment capable of guaranteeing high quality standards and TV service.

Fabio Pastore says: “We mainly use several software [packages] for our video graphics productions. These include: Adobe Master Collection (especially Photoshop and After Effects); for 3D we use mainly Maya and Cinema4D; we make intensive use of Blackmagic Design HD Extreme; and undertake video mapping 3D with Pandora and Catalyst. [Also] ClassX graphics software solutions are vital for us since they are able to harmonise reliability and functionality, allowing us to cover all requirements for small and large-scale production of live graphics.”

Unidea is generally concerned with broadcast playout services but also offers creative services involving the artistic creation of graphic contents with 3D capability. The company specializes mainly in the broadcast industry where, thanks to advanced know-how and a team of experienced professionals, it delivers high-level graphics solutions, 3D visuals and motion graphics.
