German systems integrator BFE Studio and Medien Systeme GmbH has been selected as prime contractor for a major broadcast infrastructure upgrade at Uzbekistan’s National Radio and TV Company, updating the equipment in its main broadcasting centre as well as its 12 regional studios across the country.

Panasonic cameras have been selected for the equipment refresh, with a total of 42 AK-UC3000 4K studio cameras for use at NRTV’s broadcasting centre, regional studios and outside broadcast vehicles, alongside 15 AJ-PX270 handheld ENG cameras.

The project will see 34 Panasonic AK-HRP1000 remote control panels installed, as well as another 8 AJ-PX5000 cameras used in the building of two new news studios. Systems integrator BFE also supplied 34 AG-PX380GF and 25 AG-PX800GF P2HD cameras for the gathering of footage outside of the studio.

As a central, state-owned broadcaster, NRTV operates 14 national and 12 regional channels with headquarters in Uzbekistan’s capital city Tashkent.

The project includes replacing SD technology with IP-TV technology in the central control room, creating a modern HDTV/IP production environment. A total of 100 editorial workstations will be connected to the central archive which will be upgraded with an LTO robotic tape system and a MAM system, connecting the 12 regional studios.

The creation of three HD studios and two news studios with an adjacent 60 work station newsroom is also part of the project, as well as the upgrade of the mobile production units. The project will be carried out without interrupting ongoing television services.
