Broadcast systems integrator TSL to restructure

TSL Systems has announced a restructuring of its operations in order, says the company, ‘to meet the challenges faced by businesses operating in the ever-changing world of media-consumption’. The company is implementing a new business development strategy at a time of global economic uncertainty and introducing a leaner business model that will maximise the efficiency of its expertise.

David Phillips, managing director of TSL Systems, comments: “TSL Systems has been developing alternative strategies and making substantial progress in exploiting new business streams in recent months to counteract the fact that our traditional client base has become ever more cautious when making investments involving substantial capital expenditure.

“Our systems’ business development team is now providing a new approach to the process of winning business, including that from new vertical markets such as emerging TV content producers.”

A new TSL subsidiary which complements the activities of the Group’s long-established Systems division was formed three months ago specifically to provide highly cost-effective systems integration for these emerging markets. It has already exceeded its first year’s turnover targets and is continuing to expand; more details will be announced shortly.

The company says that the new structure will result in a number of redundancies and efficiency savings which will ‘only relate to the running of internal processes and will not affect the customer experience and support on which TSL Systems has built its reputation’.

The core expertise of TSL Systems in essential technologies, such as file-based systems, MAM, studios and HD, are being retained and said to be integral parts of TSL’s future plans.
