BT Sport takes Timeline TV UHD truck to Basel for Europa League Final
Timeline Television provided outside broadcast services in Ultra HD (UHD) for BT Sport at the Europa League Final between Liverpool and Sevilla in Basel. The fixture on Wednesday 18 May was transmitted live on BT Sport Ultra HD in the UK and marked the first time the Europa League Final was broadcast live in Ultra HD. It was also the first time Timeline’s UHD 4K truck broadcast from mainland Europe.
In a month populated with sporting finals on BT Sport, Timeline Television’s UHD truck is also providing 4K coverage of the 47th FA Cup Final on 21 May between Crystal Palace and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. This is followed the next day by the FA Trophy between Halifax Town and Grimsby Town and the FA Vase Final between Hereford and Morpeth Town.
Daniel McDonnell, Managing Director of Timeline Television, said: “Timeline, in partnership with BT Sport, have been pushing the limits of Ultra HD 4K since we launched our UHD 4K outside broadcast truck ten months ago. We have worked with the finest manufacturers in the industry to find the best solutions to bring this technology to life. We’ve been helping BT Sport bring cinematic experiences to fans’ living rooms ever since, and I’m excited our OB truck and talented staff play a key role in enabling BT Sport viewers to experience these historical live football moments better than ever.”
Timeline Television’s UHD truck, the first purpose built UHD 4K outside broadcast unit in Europe, was designed in conjunction with BT Sport to support the launch of Europe’s first live Ultra HD 4K channel in August 2015. It was designed from the ground up to deliver UHD 4K programmes to the same high standard as current HD programmes for complex live or as live production.
