BVE North show now underway

The North of England technology event oriented towards production, post and content delivery professionals is taking place today and tomorrow (13-14 November) at the Manchester Central exhibition centre.

At the heart of the show is an extensive free seminar programme that encompasses four theatres. Newly announced sessions include Sony presenting ‘TheNewF: The Future, Ahead of Schedule’ – a session on its new F series – at 12.30 each day in the Sony Theatre, and ‘3D Production Pipelines’ with Autodesk Smoke, presented by Autodesk experts at 15.20 on Tuesday and 10.45 on Wednesday in the Broadcast Theatre.

Hour-long careers advice sessions will also be available, within the Skills Zone. New for BVE North 2012, these informal sessions will see expert practitioners delivering a wealth of free careers advice. In addition, UK media and entertainment trade union BECTU and recruitment specialists The Crewing Co will be offering CV advice throughout the show; places for the 15-minute slots are limited so visitors should book early.

On a related note, BVE North will be giving £500 to two attendees to put towards a training course. Entrants must pre-register, or register onsite, and attend BVE North on either of the show days. A winner will be chosen at random on each day of the exhibition, with the fortunate attendees being announced at 5.30pm on the first day and 4pm on the second day.

Meanwhile, in the exhibition areas, visitors will be able to witness a host of high-profile demos. For example, Mediaspec will have Avid’s Simon Sherbourne putting Pro Tools HD Native Thunderbolt through its paces, while Holdan’s demo programme includes the much-publicised new Blackmagic camera.
