C4 covers Britain’s first-ever Winter Paralympic Gold Medal with a little help from deltatre
As visually impaired skier Kelly Gallagher won Great Britain’s first-ever winter Paralympic gold medal, Channel 4, with support from deltatre, was there to capture the moment.
In follow-up to a highly successful collaboration during London 2012, deltatre is providing a host of digital products and editorial services to enrich Channel 4’s Paralympic broadcasts with in-depth multi- platform coverage.
In addition to designing and building C4’s Sochi 2014 website paralympics.channel4.com, deltatre is also supplying Channel 4 with a range of services to complement the broadcaster’s biggest ever TV commitment to Winter Paralympics. By combining deltatre’s live sport services such as real-time results data delivery, live video streaming and highlight clip production, with products including the Diva video player and LiveBlogging tool, deltatre is supporting Channel 4 to bring audiences an additional 100 hours of live digital sporting coverage.
deltatre is also amplifying Channel 4’s television programming from Sochi with additional editorial and social media coverage. Focusing on digital platforms, deltatre’s team of commentators, journalists, live bloggers, producers and editors are delivering competition analysis, behind the scenes commentary, and more.
James Rutherford, commissioning editor for Channel 4, says: “I’m excited to reunite the core team that was assembled two years ago for London 2012, allowing us to offer UK audiences first-class digital coverage from Sochi.”
Steve Boulton, deltatre’s creative director, adds: “Bringing the achievements of these great athletes to the country has been exceptionally rewarding for us and for the ParalympicGB team to win their first-ever winter gold is fantastic. As deltatre continues to grow our editorial service offering, the success we’ve had with C4 during the Paralympics serves as a model of what can be accomplished.”
