Champions League silences The Voice as 13.1M tune in to ITV, Sky Sports 1

The Voice paid the penalty for Chelsea’s Champions League heroics on Saturday night, losing out in the ratings battle to the football. Figures from ITV and Sky Sports 1 showed more than 13 million tuned in from 7pm when the pre-match coverage started through to 10.30pm – compared with 4.2 million on BBC1 in the same time slot.

ITV1’s coverage averaged 6.54 million viewers, a 29.2% share, between 7pm and 11.30pm. The finish was extended first by extra time and then penalties after the match finished 1-1 in regular time.

Live match coverage averaged 8.2 million viewers and a 33.5% share over three hours from 7.45pm.

Sky Sports 1’s live coverage of Chelsea’s victory averaged 1.488 million and a 6.7% share from 6pm.
