Civolution, deltatre in second screen collaboration

Broadcast management and security systems developer Civolution has teamed up with deltatre – a specialist in results presentation, graphics and online distribution for the TV sports market – to collaborate on a more integrated approach to second screen programming.

To achieve greater synchronisation of video, data and social media on a variety of screens, Civolution’s SyncNow ACR identification platform has been incorporated into the deltatre Diva video player, which is aimed directly at the online sports video market.

The companies claim that integrating Civolution’s audio watermarking technology into Diva extends the player’’s second screen synchronisation “to an unprecedented level”. The watermarks allow broadcast, on-demand or recorded material to be identified and synchronised with frame accuracy in real-time. In this way programming on main screens can be fully linked to a range of devices, including tablets, smartphones and laptops.

“In this multiscreen and simulscreen TV universe our clients want to leverage the growing presence of sports content on the web,” says Stefano Rigat, director of online products at deltatre. “So we need to ensure that our solution is ahead of the competition. Our integration with Civolution’s SyncNow means we can provide perfectly in-sync second screen applications, which is a unique functionality for sports on the smartphone or tablet.”

Jean-Michel Masson, senior vice-president for watermarking solutions with Civolution, adds: “Split second timing is just as important on the second screen as it is on the pitch, track or court. The sports video marketplace is an incredibly competitive environment, so we’re excited to help the Diva platform lead the pack in this fast-growing and changing space.”
