Cobalt Digital, a designer and manufacturer of 12G/3G/HD/SD conversion, throwdown and multiviewer technology for the production and broadcast television environments, has renewed its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe.
“Sports continues to be an enormously important market for Cobalt Digital and SVG Europe provides the ideal platform to connect with the local community,” said Suzana Brady, SVP of worldwide sales and marketing. “Being an active member allows us to keep on top of developments and ahead of trends and provides us with a voice to educate others about the advances in our technology that help our customers compete in a very competitive playing field.”
Cobalt offers a full range of openGear cards as well as solutions in several other form factors. A tool of choice for sports broadcasters is the 9904-UDX-4K audio/video processor card. Unique in its openGear form-factor, the 9904 is packed with features and is capable of up/down/cross conversion, audio routing, colour correction, 3D-LUT processing, as well as SL-HDR encoding and decoding powered by Advanced HDR by Technicolor.
The 9904-UDX incorporates Dante’s IP-based audio networking solution on a license-basis and now also offers the Cobalt Indigo 2110-DC-01 ST 2110 interface that adds native SMPTE ST 2110 support.
The 9904-UDX was selected by many national broadcast facilities in France, the UK, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy to air last year’s FIFAWorld Cup as well as large sport events in Germany and France.
Cobalt has also introduced significant support for OB trucks transitioning to IP infrastructures via its Indigo family that includes the Indigo OG-2110-BIDI4-Gateway bidirectional quad-channel native ST 2110 interface to SDI I/O, and the Pacific 9992-ENC-Indigo openGear card for integrated, low-latency local encoding.
The Cobalt Pacific ULL-DEC HEVC Upgradeable AVC/MPEG-2 software defined broadcast decoder is a professional multi-standard openGear decoder card designed to support MPEG-2 and AVC (H.264) (4K support available), and a full complement of audio decoding capabilities.
For functionality, and reliability in small spaces, Sapphire BBG mini convertors can be mounted behind monitors, and Wave routers and control panels are flexible, simple to use, fit into a 4U frame, and support signals up to 12G-SDI. Cobalt’s new UltraBlue IP-MV scalable software-based multiviewer can be provided as a turnkey solution with four HDMI heads, or as a software package.
