DAZN agrees global deal with World Sevens Football

A new seven-a-side global women’s football competition will take place in Portugal in May, with DAZN to produce and air coverage of the series.

World Sevens Football is a new grand slam series for professional women footballers with a $5 million prize pool per event. The first of the three-day competitions in 2025 will see eight clubs come head-to-head in Estoril, Portugal, on 21-23 May.

The “short-format, high-intensity” games will take place on a field half the size of a typical football pitch with seven players on each side, two 15-minute halves, and extra time for tie-breakers. The teams will be split into round-robin groups of four, feeding into semi-finals and a final hosted on the third day.

Hannah Brown, co-CEO of Women’s Sports at DAZN, said: “We are delighted to be the global media partner for World Sevens Football. The fast-paced format, top class global talent and record-breaking prize pool make this new competition a milestone for the game.
