DAZN, LFP and Genius Sports launch LFP Data Zone
DAZN France, LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel) and Genius Sports have launched LFP Data Zone, a stats-driven viewing mode that provides real-time metrics and data.
LFP Data Zone was made available for yesterday’s Marseille v Nantes fixture and will be available for one match per week on DAZN, the domestic broadcaster of Ligue 1.
Data Zone is described as a statistics-driven live viewing mode designed to bring fans closer to the action, with rolling news and an L-bar style format that displays real-time updates including passing accuracy, players speed, off ball runs and 1v1 breakdowns.
LFP Media senior media director Martin Aurenche said: The way of watching sports events is constantly and rapidly evolving. With DataZone, we’re offering an innovative way to watch Ligue 1 McDonald’s matches that addresses these stakes.”
Data Zone is powered by GeniusIQ, Genius Sports’ sports data and AI platform. GeniusIQ ingests tracking data through optical cameras installed across every Ligue 1 stadium, before applying machine learning to create a semantic understanding of football. This technology automatically detects what counts as a shot, and then immediately displays a shot speed graphic.
Director of content, editorial and production at DAZN France Stefano Bernabino added: “Innovation, data, and the digital experience surrounding football, at the intersection of expertise and entertainment, are at the heart of DAZN’s DNA. Data Zone represents an additional step in the evolution of the editorial offering for Ligue 1 McDonald’s that DAZN aims to provide to football enthusiasts in France.”
