Speakers from European Tour Productions, The Premier League and SailGP have been added to the line-up for Digital Sports Summit, taking place at Kings Place in London on 25 June.
This full-day conference, previously known as Create Share Engage, will focus on the strategies, tools, techniques and technology required to successfully create and distribute social, mobile and streamed sports content.
In ‘Beyond the game: Engaging sports fans with short-form content’, panellists including Tom Halls, SailGP, director of social; Patrick Burch-Lovell, European Tour Productions, creative director, original and branded content; and Alexandra Willis, The Premier League, director of digital media & audience development, will take a detailed look at how federations, leagues and broadcasters alike can use Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms to attract, retain, monetise and engage with sports fans.
In addition, in a special fireside chat, Kahlen Macaulay, senior manager of international sports partnerships at Snap Inc, will discuss changes in fan/viewer behaviour and put them into some context before focusing on best practices for Snapchat content creation and fan engagement, outlining how sports broadcasters, federations and other rights holders/owners and brands can successfully make use of the platform, and how and what they can learn from what others do.
Later in the day, Colin McKevitt, Badger & Combes, MD & Lancashire CCC CIO; Duncan East, Buzz 16, MD; and Joshua Barnett, After Party Studios, MD, will examine how watchalongs and other types of alternative and interactive live viewing experiences, including those on YouTube, can engage Gen Z and international audiences. Using examples, the panel will discuss the pros and cons, including what success and failure look like, document the people skills and technologies required, and share their thoughts on why this is both the present and the future of sports viewing.
The power of content hubs and how to successfully launch DTC services will also be explored and the latest research covering European sports video consumption across mobile, OTT, streaming and other digital products will be shared.
