DMC Production Germany and TV Skyline are set to deliver the studio and production infrastructure for MagentaTV’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
DMC was appointed technical service provider by thinXpool TV, which is acting as general contractor for Deutsche Telekom and holds overall editorial and production responsibility for the tournament coverage.
MagentaTV’s coverage will include 104 matches, including 44 exclusive games, and more than 1,000 hours of programming. Three dedicated FIFA World Cup 2026 channels will provide continuous coverage, alongside highlight programmes, relive content and documentaries. Content will be delivered in UHD with Dolby Atmos and accessibility features including audio description. The production chain will operate fully in HDR.
Coverage will be based around studios in New York City’s Financial District and Munich. The New York studio, which will be managed by TV Skyline in terms of both technical operations and staffing, will act as the main hub, providing live analysis and content from stadium locations across North America. TV Skyline travelling teams will also handle the technical and personnel aspects of the remote production from the stadiums, with signal routing handled via MTI.
The Munich facility will operate as MagentaTV’s home studio and will include a dedicated studio. TV Skyline will be on site at this studio with its Ü12UHD OB and will handle all signal management for the remote production, which is also carried out by the company from New York and the stadiums. Munich will also function as the central control hub for the remote production workflow supporting the New York studio, with live production operations managed remotely from Germany.
DMC Production Germany is responsible for the internal production infrastructure at both sites. This includes scenic studio design, analysis graphics and LED wall integration, as well as IP-based signal management and conversion, playout and feed enhancement, gallery production for the three tournament channels, and ingest, recording and file management services.
Presenters for the coverage include Johannes B. Kerner and Laura Wontorra, supported by analysts and contributors including Jürgen Klopp, Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Wolff Fuss and Tabea Kemme.
Additional editorial formats, including the WM Breakfast Club, will be hosted by Sascha Bandermann and Laura Hoffmann, among others.
MagentaTV will broadcast matches from all stages of the tournament, including selected group-stage and knockout fixtures through to the third-place play-off. The programming line-up will also include daily highlights, analysis programmes and additional formats designed to address late-night kick-off times and changing viewing habits.
Holger Enßlin, managing director, DMC Production Germany, said: “This project demonstrates how essential the interaction between technology, processes and strong partnerships is for the success of a global sporting event.
“Together with MagentaTV and thinXpool, we are implementing international production architecture designed for maximum flexibility and efficiency. Our ambition is not only to provide the technical foundation, but also to actively contribute to setting new standards in sports broadcasting and enabling innovative production formats. We greatly appreciate the renewed trust placed in us by Deutsche Telekom and our client thinXpool.”
