EBU and Aquatics GB strike streaming deal for World Aquatics Championships 2025

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Aquatics GB have struck a new deal that will see both organisations stream live coverage of the World Aquatics Championships 2025.

Taking place in Singapore from 11 July to 3 August 2025, the World Aquatics Championships 2025 will be available on Eurovision Sport, the EBU’s free-to-air digital platform. And, as part of the agreement, Eurovision Sport will be embedded into the Aquatics GB website and provide UK-based fans with full, free access to live and on-demand coverage of all Championship events.

The EBU said the collaboration enables greater access for UK fans to follow British athletes’ performances across all aquatic disciplines. Content will also be streamed on Eurovision Sport’s app and web platforms.

Eurovision Sport managing director Alan Fagan said: “This agreement delivers a strong, audience-first proposition for the UK aquatics community. We’re not just offering access to world-class events, we’re creating a digital space where fans can engage more deeply with the sport, its stories, and its stars.”

This new collaboration marks a “strategic expansion” of Eurovision Sport’s reach and reflects a shared ambition to meet growing demand for flexible, multi-platform coverage of Olympic-pathway events, the EBU said. It is also the first time Eurovision Sport will embed a stream directly on a National Federation platform, bringing the action of the World Championships even closer to the local audience.

As part of this broader coverage, Aquatics GB has committed to producing a daily preview show, ‘Singapore Breakfast’, as well as a nightly highlights programme, ‘The Cool Down’, featuring event highlights, exclusive behind the scenes access and athlete interviews from the team camp. Both programmes will be broadcast across Aquatics GB and Eurovision Sport platforms.

The partnership also follows growing domestic interest in aquatic sports, after the 2025 Aquatics GB Championships achieved record engagement, with over 25 million social media content views and breaking through the half a million mark for the live broadcast audience for the second consecutive year.

Drew Barrand, CEO, Aquatics GB, said: “With digital viewership central to our audience engagement strategies, this partnership helps ensure our athletes’ performances reach the widest possible audience in the most accessible way. We’re excited to work with Eurovision Sport to bring the 2025 World Championships directly to fans across the UK, on all platforms.”

By combining Eurovision Sport’s growing digital footprint with Aquatics GB’s national audience, the partnership provides a scalable model for rights holders and federations looking to expand reach, drive engagement, and support grassroots inspiration through elite performance visibility.
