EFL chooses NAGRA Streaming Security solution for match content protection during 2025/26 football season

The English Football League (EFL) has partnered with Nagravision as part of efforts to detect, disrupt and deter piracy of its matches in the 2025/26 football season.

The new partnership will see the EFL utilise the live piracy monitoring and enforcement capabilities of the NAGRA Streaming Security solution.

In a statement, the content protection and media and entertainment solutions company said that fighting live sports piracy is a key focus for both the EFL and the industry at large as they look to sustain the value of live sports content, support their member clubs and deliver the best fan experience possible.

The EFL will use NAGRA Streaming Security’s piracy monitoring to quantify the scale of piracy threats against its live sports content. The solution’s anti-piracy intelligence capability will enable the EFL to measure the impact of takedown and enforcement activities and provide an overview of pirate activities targeting their content.

“Nagravision’s dynamic, real-time monitoring is an effective and important part of our work to protect our content, clubs and their supporters,” said Russell Byrne, head of broadcast operations at the EFL. “The level of information available to us means we can better monitor, identify and take down illegal streams as they appear across various platforms, and ensure that we are providing the best possible experience to those that pay for legitimate services.”
