Euro Media Group (EMG), a European provider of broadcast facilities and services, has announced that Bevan Gibson is the new chief technology officer (CTO), replacing outgoing CTO Ronald Meyvisch. Gibson will join EMG on 1 October 2020.

Gibson is to head EMG’s technology strategy and will lead and execute several of the company’s critical future-focused technological concepts.

He brings a wealth of experience and strong technical expertise in adapting to changing landscapes and new platforms, as well as team management. Gibson will further EMG’s vision of enabling the Group’s transition to IP-based technology, take the lead in implementing connectivity solutions and support EMG’s M&A strategy.

For the past six years, Gibson has been working as CTO for the London-based company ITN where he managed a team of over 100 people. Among his highlights is the World Athletics Championships in Doha where he was responsible for host broadcast technical operations, working closely with World Athletics and rights holding broadcasters.  Previously, he was responsible for the operational aspects and technology strategy of Sky Creative, part of Sky, following a broad strategic role within Sky’s broadcast Technology Team.

“I am looking forward to taking on a leadership role at Euro Media Group,” said Gibson. “It is a very exciting time as the Group has successfully engaged a wide transition from legacy technology towards the most advanced IP workflow. It is such an amazing opportunity to participate in Euro Media Group’s expansion.”

“We are excited to welcome Bevan to our management team as we continue to invest heavily in a wide range of technologies and enhance our technological cooperation across all of our entities in Europe,” said Patrick van den Berg, co-CEO at EMG. “Bevan is known for his deep technical skills, and strong performance within the industry, and for being a creative problem solver who has achieved business goals by leveraging the innovative use of technology. This is paramount to our future success as we advance our technology capabilities; and enhance the ever wider set of technological services we make available to our clients.”
