FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2024 attracts record-breaking viewership and digital engagement

The FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2024 has set new benchmarks for digital viewership, with “record breaking” levels of engagement.

FIBA 3×3’s digital channels drew more than 30 million social media impressions, while digital engagements surpassed 1.1 million for the competition that was held in Vienna from 22-25 August.

Additionally, the 3×3 Europe Cup 2024 videos generated 524,000 views on YouTube, a significant increase of 189% compared to 2023 and 102% compared to 2022.

The tournament’s online popularity also translated into an uplift in new subscribers, with a 198% increase in 2024 compared to the previous year. The total number of views generated by the competition was over 23.5M.

The 3×3 format involves two teams of three players facing off on a basketball half-court. It made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

“The record-breaking digital engagement and viewership for the Europe Cup 2024 reinforce the ever-increasing appeal of our sport and our passionate global fanbase. This success is a testament to the incredible performances of our players on the court, our fantastic hosts, Vienna, and our loyal sponsors.”

The geographic reach of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2024 was equally impressive, FIBA said. While Serbia maintained its top spot as the country with the most viewers, Germany, the United States, Austria, and the United Kingdom made significant strides, entering the top 10 audience list for the first time.

“The collaboration has been exceptional, not only with FIBA but also with IWBF. We are delighted to see the tournament’s success both on and off the court. Ending up with two Gold medals is just incredible. The positive impact of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2024 on our 3×3 program in Austria has been immeasurable.”

The 10th edition of the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2025 at the City Hall Square.
