Ahead of the third-place play-off (also known as the Bronze Final) on Saturday 18 July, SVG Europe visited BBC Sport’s FIFA World Cup 2026 studio at MediaCity Studios in Salford to see how the broadcaster is producing its presentation coverage.
The production makes use of XR and an LED volume, marking a significant move away from the green screen setup used at previous tournaments. The studio has been home to the majority of BBC Sport’s World Cup coverage, with presentation for the semi-finals and final originating from the stadium.
In this video, MediaCity Studios head of studios Andy Waters takes us behind the scenes with an exclusive tour of the facility.
Technology partners involved in the project include Pixotope, AE Live, Mo-Sys and ROE Visual.
We’ll be publishing a more detailed feature on the SVG Europe website in the coming days.
