File delivery, Ultra HD under the microscope at SVG Europe’s SportTech 2014

The migration to digital file delivery and the intensifying debate surrounding the implementation of 4K for sports production workflows will be among the hot topics at SVG Europe’s SportTech 2014 event, taking place at the Emirates Stadium on 7 May.

The next instalment in SVGE’s increasingly high profile series of technology summits, SportTech will take a microscope to the new and emerging developments likely to impact significantly on sports production over the next 12 months and beyond.

Set to be one of the key sessions at this year’s event, Delivering to Spec: Effects of the DPP as-11 on Sports Production will examine the current migration to digital file delivery with input from BT Sport’s Andy Beale, Avid’s Craig Dwyer, Ixedia’s Mark Hill and Ericsson Broadcast Services’ Alexandra McDevitt. The session will be moderated by Broadcast Innovation’s Russell Grute.

In a recent addition to the programme, specialist research firm Futuresource Consulting will look at the interplay between broadcast technology, consumer electronics, and the content and entertainment industries with respect to new technology adoption. In particular, it will consider the extent to which the current momentum behind the adoption of 4K/Ultra HD is supported by the availability of applicable cameras and other systems.
