Football Production Summit case study: The Premier League Archive
At SVG Europe’s upcoming Football Production Summit at Munich’s Allianz Arena March 22, IMG’s Sports Video Archive VP Tom Barnes and Imagen CEO Tom Blake will present a case study on the development and delivery of a new ‘One Portal’ platform on behalf of the English Premier League.
With the rebrand at the start of this season and a new contract term for broadcasters, the Premier League commissioned its production partner at IMG to create the One Portal platform for global broadcasters to access match information, news content and the back catalogue of match footage and programming from the archive.
Over a period of four months, IMG ported 500TB of broadcast quality match footage to a cloud-hosted instance of the Imagen Enterprise Video Platform, managing replication to strategic locations in Sao Paolo, Singapore, Dublin and LA to rapidly serve footage in high-demand production — through elegant search interfaces with built-in features of clipping, partial file restore, accelerated downloads and volume allowances. Discover the challenges in achieving a project of this scale in a narrow time frame, and how these were overcome.
SVG Europe’s flagship Football Production Summit 2017 will take place at Allianz Arena, home to FC Bayern, on Wednesday 22 March. SVG Europe expects that over 150 senior professionals in football broadcasting, OBs, service providers, clubs, leagues and federations will attend our premier, agenda-setting football summit this year.
