Football Production Summit: Europe prepares for UEFA EURO 2016 in France

SVGE_480 x 320px guide openSVG Europe’s flagship football event, The Football Production Summit (FPS), takes place Wednesday 23 March at Stade de France in Saint-Denis – home to the France v Romania opening game on 10 June and, 51 matches later, to the final on 10 July. And for our flagship FPS session Bernard Ross, UEFA Head of TV Production, will set the scene for the France UEFA EURO 2016 tournament.

A new dimension will be added to European football’s premier international competition at UEFA EURO 2016; for the first time, 24 teams will contest the Henri Delaunay Cup. The French Football Federation (FFF) joins UEFA, the French government and host cities as major stakeholders in UEFA EURO 2016. Matches will be played in ten stadiums – Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.

In the new format for 2016, along with the top two from each group, the four best third-ranked sides will also progress, meaning 16 teams go into the new round of 16 knockout stage, and only eight teams go home at group stage. This format generates a total of 51 games, compared with 31 games for the previous 16-team tournament, to be played over a period of 31 days.
