FutureSport 2014: Delivering IP interop

BBC R&D Lead Engineer Peter Brightwell will discuss the IP Studio Project at the Commonwealth Games and DYVI Live General Manager Philippe Van Walle will unveil use of IP infrastructure by Dutchview and Infostrada at SVG Europe’s FutureSport in London 2 December. This highlight session, sponsored by Forbidden Technologies, will be moderated by Sports Video Group Editorial Director Ken Kerschbaumer.

The full session title is ‘Say You Want an (IP) Revolution: Delivering True Interoperability’. It’s the Holy Grail for sports broadcasters: use standard IP signal transport and cloud-based services, leaving most production infrastructure and staff at home when delivering live remote productions to viewers.

How fast is IP transforming the nature of live sports broadcasting – from camera output through end-to-end file-based content production and delivery? When can we really move confidently beyond baseband at the compound and the broadcast facility? What are the potential pitfalls in an all-live, all-IP ‘at-home’ production world?
