FutureSPORT 2019: Vodafone joins telco-rich 5G session speaker line up

There are now representatives from three telecoms companies set to speak at FutureSPORT 2019 in the session titled, Adding bandwidth: Sports Broadcasting at the 5G Level.

Pete Rodriguez, senior manager for 5G programme delivery at Vodafone UK, is now joining Tiana Trumpa, Deutsche Telekom 5G product manager, and Matt Stagg, BT Sport, director of mobile strategy and who is also, as part of the wider BT Group including EE, developing its technology strategy for broadcast, media and entertainment over 4G, LTE-Broadcast, and 5G.

Rodriguez has held senior technical positions within design, planning, build and optimisation of various national telecoms networks, where he has provided technical design solutions and hands on delivery management on the roll out of large network deployment projects including 2G, 3G, 4G and now 5G.

Further speakers on the panel are Claire Harvey, UK5G Creative Industries Working Group, Chair, and account director at Red Bee Media, and Ian Wagdin, BBC R&D, senior technology transfer manager. The session will be chaired by Heather McLean, editor at SVG Europe.

This panel will discuss the pros, the cons, the challenges and the innovations that 5G for sports broadcasting could, can, might and will bring to this industry, from its limitations to its revolutionary potential.
FutureSPORT 2019 will take place at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London on Tuesday 26 November. The conference will pay particular attention to contribution and distribution within sports broadcasting.

As with all SVG Europe events, there will be plenty of networking opportunities throughout FutureSPORT 2019 and delegates will also get the chance to take part in a guided tour of Stamford Bridge.
