FutureSPORT 2025: IMG, Aurora Media, BBC R&D, and Caretta Research join speaker line-up for Brighton event

More speakers have been announced for FutureSPORT 2025, sponsored by Tata Communications Media and taking place at the AMEX Stadium in Brighton on 6 November. This forward-looking conference and networking event will focus on how sports content will be created, distributed and consumed in the coming years.

Speakers include Rebecca Jackson, business development manager at Caretta Research (pictured), who will provide a forward-looking presentation that forecasts where European sports broadcasting and production will be in 12-18 months’ time. Jackson will also share what editorial, operations and technology teams need to be prepared for when it comes to sports media consumption and distribution, from AI and cloud to social media and immersive technologies.

‘Tech Focus: Embracing virtualisation, the cloud, and the software-based production revolution’ will see Peter Brightwell, BBC R&D, lead engineer, and Michael Deppe, IMG, technical producer, studios, explore how software-based workflows are changing the way we produce and deliver sports content, and how embracing these technologies can enhance flexibility, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

In addition, Barry Flanigan, Aurora Media, chief strategy officer, will take part in ‘Let the Games Begin: Exploring the future of sports viewing (and how we can monetise it!)’. This panel will look at what’s coming next in terms of televisual innovation, explore what they think will work best and why, before discussing how these developments can be made possible, efficient and practical for production teams.

They join previously announced speaker Jonny Keogh, Head of UK Sports at YouTube, who will kick things off with a special presentation revealing how YouTube is evolving from a distribution channel to an innovation hub for sports content, driving the next generation of sports engagement and monetisation.

FutureSPORT will also feature workshops on anti-piracy/content protection and MAM. The latter, sponsored by Pixitmedia, will be chaired by Shane Warden, Monks, VP sports and media transformation and SVG Europe Advisory Board Member, and feature Matt Samuel, post production, technology and workflow consultant.
