GAA partners with deltatre for new digital platform

The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ireland’s largest sporting organisation, is investing in its future with the launch of its new website, gaa.ie, having commissioned digital sport leader deltatre to work on designing, developing and implementing a completely new digital platform.

The GAA’s vision is to deliver a first-class digital experience for the GAA community in Ireland and all over the world. The platform is fully responsive and is designed to offer a great experience to fans on any digital device, which will meet the growing demand from users on mobile and tablet.

deltatre used its experience and creativity to make user journeys much more intuitive and fun. Live and historical match data is now available to fans, which combined with a new bold design, brings stats and data to life and provides an unrivalled ‘live’ experience on match day. The platform is based on deltatre’s leading sports technology including Forge, their Content Management System; Diva, their award-winning video player; SportTeller, deltatre’s innovative sport storytelling tool, and LiveBlogging, their real-time solution for the cross-media coverage of sporting events.

In addition, the platform is supported by deltatre’s User Management Platform which will ensure a seamless and personalised experience for users across different devices.

President of the GAA, Aogán Ó Fearghail, said: “We are very excited to be launching our revamped platform gaa.ie. We selected deltatre because they are a world-leader in digital sport. We value their appreciation and understanding of working with other major sports Governing Bodies, and also their understanding of the intricacies of digital sport. The pedigree of work to date coupled with their innovation, creativity and overall company culture we felt was a great fit.”

Hugo Sharman, director at deltatre, said: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen to work with the GAA, and are delighted our commitment to working together has been reflected in a five year partnership until 2020. The GAA has opened our eyes to a new world of sport, but also a huge and passionate community. We are looking forward to continuing to help them grow the reach and engagement of hurling, handball and Gaelic football in Ireland and around the world.”
