Gekko expands LED-based lighting lineup

A new addition to Gekko Technology’s range of LED-based television and film production lighting systems makes its European show debut on stand 11.D40 at IBC2011. Kedo-sk is a single-colour Fresnel-focused hard source luminaire optimised for the requirements of image capture for both film and broadcast.

Available in either daylight (5600 kelvin) or tungsten (3200 kelvin) variants, kedo-sk produces minimal heat and is designed to work in an ambient temperature of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

Output intensity is comparable with a 1 kilowatt tungsten source. Low power consumption (180 watts) keeps heat generation to a minimum. An integral Fresnel-based optic provides a focal range of 6:1. Intensity can be controlled on the lamp itself or via DMX.

“The everyday reality of production for television and film crews is a requirement for a single colour white light to illuminate the subject,” comments David Amphlett, Gekko Technology’s founder and Managing Director. “Combining controllable focus and high-quality single colour output in an LED based lamp, the kedo-sk delivers the benefits of resource-friendly technology but in a format which the film and TV world is familiar with.”

Kedo-sk fully complements Gekko’s existing range of lighting equipment. In the right environment, complete LED-based lighting setups can now be deployed, which are more energy-efficient, cooler-running, and have no requirement for consumables, whilst still being comparable to more traditional forms of lighting in terms of output.
