Glensound preps commentary systems showcase for BVE North

The 2012 BVE North Show – which gets underway tomorrow (13 November) at Manchester Central exhibition centre – will find broadcast audio specialist Glensound highlighting a wide variety of its sports commentary solutions.

Systems on display will include: Express Box, which offers a simple, low-cost two position stand-alone solution; the Talent Box, offering the ability to link multiple boxes; the GS-CU001B, a long-term favourite amongst broadcasters; the GDC 6432 digital two-part commentary systems used to cover events including the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand; and the Solo and Solo Loop, facilitating one position, one button commentary.

Making its first appearance at BVE North, Glensound will also demonstrate its GS-MPI004HD HD Voice Broadcasters’ Mobile Phone. HD Voice technology has extended the 300-3400Hz limitation traditionally used in telephony to a bandwidth of 50-7000Hz, enabling superior natural sound quality and increased intelligibility. Glensound HD Voice connects over the 3G network in the same way as normal voice calls and is therefore given priority over packet data in order to maintain quality of service.  If IP services are struggling for bandwidth in a highly congested area, Glensound HD Voice will not be affected and a 7kHz link will still be possible.

The UK-based company will also draw visitors’ attention to the Roaming Range, which is said to bring less common battery-operated devices to the kit bag of broadcasters. Full portability has been a key motivator of the Roaming Range where standard devices were developed into small, battery-powered units.  The Roaming Compressor GR-CM01 and Roaming EQ GR-EQ01 will be displayed throughout BVE North.

Last but not least, Glensound will showcase the GSnake 400M in 2U, 16-channel and 1U, 8-channel versions. The larger-capacity version comprises a 2U (1U) base station and 2U (1U) stage box with 16(8) channels of 24bit 48kHz audio on its digital link. This modular configuration allows bi-directional audio in any send/return combination based purely on the location of the send/return modules. The link can be executed via Cat5 copper Ethernet (100m range) or coaxial cable (400m range), both of which also power the remote stage box.  Alternatively, both units can be linked directly via fibre.
