GlobalSportsJobs.com Job of the Week: Senior Marketing Manager, Sky Cycling & Team Sky

Every week GlobalSportsJobs.com and SVG Europe join forces to bring you details of a new, much sought-after employment opportunity in sports broadcasting or related disciplines. This week’s role is a full-time position with Sky as senior marketing manager – Sky Cycling & Team Sky, based in Middlesex, UK.

In 2008 Sky created a unique partnership with British Cycling with the aim of getting a million more people in Britain cycling regularly. It also set about creating a professional cycling team, which would provide a British winner of the Tour de France. These goals were hit a year ahead of schedule and Sky is now an industry leader in cycling at all levels – from elite pro-cycling to mass participation. The Sky Cycling Team delivers everything Sky does as a brand, ensuring maximum return on investment across Sky’s European business.

Now it is seeking a senior marketing manager, who will be responsible for creating and delivering all marketing, media and communications for Sky Cycling initiatives, in order to drive participation and build awareness, understanding and favourability towards the Sky brand.

With multi-million pound budgets, the successful candidate will work closely with the brand director on the strategic objective for Sky Cycling, which they will then use to generate creative briefs for effective, market-leading campaigns, as well as managing the day-to-day relationships with partners and agencies.

With an exciting year ahead, they will also be responsible for refining and updating Sky Cycling consumer insight/audience work and managing a newly appointed PR agency. They will have ownership of formulating and delivering Sky Cycling’s PR strategy, ensuring maximum exposure for the brand around this critical year – which will encompass Sky’s support in getting riders to Rio, the final year of the British Cycling and Sky Ride partnership, Team Sky’s pursuit of more Grand Tour victories, defending the Tour de France, and working with Sir Bradley Wiggins and his new venture, Team Wiggins.
