Grass Valley helps Sharjah TV achieve SD to HD broadcast transition
UAE broadcaster has recently undertaken an upgrade from SD to HD, exploring a number of options from various manufacturers before selecting cameras and switchers from Grass Valley.
“The Xensium-FT CMOS sensor technology in the Grass Valley cameras makes them superior to other options,” explained Dr. Khalid Al Midfa, director general of Sharjah Media Corporation. “We need equipment that will not only meet our requirements today, but also ensure that we will be well positioned in the years to come. Grass Valley has been a trusted partner of ours and has been with us every step of the way to help us maximise our investments.”
Sharjah TV purchased the Kayenne K-Frame Video Production Center switcher and three LDX WorldCam cameras with XCU base stations for the upgrade from SD to HD. The LDX WorldCam can switch between 1080p/1080i/720p/1080PsF and is the ideal solution for any production under any condition. The LDX WorldCam enables 1080p productions that are normally impossible to cover without huge investments in additional lighting or without serious degradation of the image quality.
The Kayenne Video Production Center with K-Frame delivers one of the highest levels of performance and flexibility available for live productions. Broadcasters can mount the unique Kayenne control surface flat or in a banked curve, and configure the K-Frame video engine for any source type with its full multiformat support including 1080p and 4K. When needed, Kayenne can adapt to offer up to 192 inputs, 96 outputs and up to 9 M/Es with six keyers in every M/E.
“It’s important to really understand our customers’ businesses and work with them individually to determine the best solutions for their specific situation,” noted Said Bacho, senior vice president, EMEA, Grass Valley. “It’s an ongoing process, and it continues after the sale as well. Our experts help with the initial assessment, the installation and the training and support that come after. Sharjah TV is a leader in the region and we are proud to be their supplier as they make the transition to HD.”
