Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay System for TV2 Bornholm’s live Danish sports coverage

Grass Valley has recently equipped TV2 Bornholm, a leading Danish broadcaster, with its K2 Dyno Replay System to deliver engaging replays and highlight packages during the five-day Etape Bornholm marathon in June.

TV2 Bornholm’s K2 Dyno Replay System consists of two core components: the K2 Dyno S Replay Controller paired with a K2 Solo media server. This solution provides TV2 Bornholm with an efficient and affordable solution for capturing live events and instantaneously playing out high-quality coverage.

“As a local broadcaster our initial challenge was quickly finding the right tools to confidently play back clips from our remote outside broadcast (OB) van to cover the five eventful days,” says Carsten Ager, chief technology officer for TV2 Bornholm. “During Etape Bornholm over 2,500 runners expose themselves to everything from sand dunes to forest terrain and steep hills, so flexibility and adaptability are critical to us when covering the event. When we teamed up with Grass Valley we saw a solution that easily met our requirements without requiring a lengthy training process – after one quick phone call to their global support team we were up and running.”

The K2 Dyno S Replay Controller has been designed to deliver a highly intuitive touchscreen interface, meaning it can be easily mastered for cueing replays and developing highlight packages quickly. Combined with the two-channel K2 Solo media server the system is optimised for production and live event workflows.

“We recognise that today’s viewers demand a high-quality viewing experience when watching live event coverage, which can be both costly and complex to deliver,” says Said Bacho, senior vice president of EMEA, Grass Valley. “At Grass Valley, we pride ourselves on offering our customers live production solutions that enable them to provide viewers with the exceptional high-quality coverage that they have come to expect. What’s more, we can do so competitively and affordably, without the need for expensive software and hardware add-ons, boosting levels of functionality for any size of production.”
