The Basketball Champions League (BCL), the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) top tier club competition in Europe, worked with Mediapro BMS – a Grup Mediapro business dedicated to audiovisual services – for the production of one of its largest sports events.
The audiovisual group was the host broadcaster of the Basketball Champions League Final Four held 9 to 11 May in Athens, Greece.
Grup Mediapro has a long track record of collaboration with FIBA, which is formed by 212 national basketball federations throughout the world.
A team of more than 50 professionals from Mediapro Greece has carried out the production and broadcasting of the audiovisual signal of the four matches for the BCL and its agent in Greece, TAF Media. The group, which has an established presence in Greece – where it has also produced the professional football league since 2019 – deployed an extensive array of technical equipment featuring over 20 cameras.
For the BCL Final Four final, the group used one PoleCam, four Super Slow cameras and various MiniCams to ensure all angles of the action were captured, culminating in a comprehensive and visually rich broadcast. Through its subsidiary Omnicam4Sky, Grup Mediapro develops specialised cameras designed to meet clients’ needs and to ensure coverage of every detail of the live show in its productions
The group’s deployment also included a VAR van in order to provide replay and review services to its client. Grup Mediapro’s production enabled global viewership of the games played between La Laguna Tenerife, Galatasaray, AEK Betsson BC and Unicaja.
