Hawk-Eye Innovations, part of the Sony Sports Innovation Group, has renewed its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe.
The company develops and delivers a range of officiating, production, tracking and analytics tools used across sports including football and tennis.
Recently, Hawk-Eye was chosen to deliver semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) and goal-line technology (GLT) for the Greek Super League Championship Playoffs and the Greek Cup Final.
SAOT utilises over 10 calibrated cameras for optical tracking purposes, to generate precise offside calls by analysing player position through 29 skeletal points on each player’s body, as well as ball movement, all within seconds. By drastically reducing the time required for offside reviews, the technology minimises game interruptions, enhances the flow of the match and delivers accuracy in offside decision-making.
GLT uses ball-tracking technology through seven high-frame cameras focused on each goal, pinpointing the ball’s position and notifying officials within a second of it crossing the line.
The past 12 months have also been an exciting time for Hawk-Eye Innovation’s Broadcast Solutions Division, which focuses on live production, offering a full broadcasting ecosystem for venues, facilities and trucks. The division has worked on events including The Masters, The Open (US and British), The Players Championship with CBS, and the Super Bowl LVIII.
The company also launched the HawkNEST broadcast systems asset management server, and HawkREPLAY, a remote production and instant replay broadcast solution built on Hawk-Eye’s Synchronised Multi-Angle Replay Technology (SMART) systems, creating a complete end-to-end broadcasting solution.
