I-MOVIX slows down with X10
I-MOVIX has taken the wraps off its new X10 system, a new ultra-slow motion system that delivers 250 fps real-time continuous streaming combined with the EVS live production server. Developed in partnership with EVS, the X10 system (which works with the EVS XT3 production server under LSM control) “smashes the performance ceiling” of existing super slow motion systems.
The X10 system can be used at 25-250fps in continuous mode, and delivers ultra-slow motion at up to 2700 fps in 1080i replay mode (or 5,800 in 720p), with instant replay using the EVS LSM remote controller.
When used as a continuously streaming system, X10 provides “always on” slow motion, with the reassurance that no action need ever be missed. The system incorporates the latest generation Vision Research high-speed HD camera, delivering exceptional image quality matching the standards of the best broadcast HD cameras. With the ability to operate either in continuously streaming mode or in ultra-slow motion mode at up to 5,800 fps with instant replay, the X10 system offers broadcasters a new benchmark both in flexibility and performance.
As the industry’s first true multirole camera system, the X10 system is designed to combine with the EVS XT3 server and its LSM controller to give production teams the ability to use it as a conventional HD camera at 25 fps, for continuous slow motion at frame rates far in excess of existing systems, or as a high-performance ultra-slow motion solution. In any of these roles, the X10 provides a consistent and familiar user interface and controls that any broadcast crew can use immediately, without specialist training.
“Our aim with the X10 has been to develop a system that delivers unmatchable performance in a package so flexible that broadcasters can use it in a variety of ways,” said I-MOVIX CEO, Laurent Renard. “This new product is clearly the result of a technological development partnership with EVS, designing market-leading broadcast live slow motion servers, and is a significant advance on the current state of the art of live sports broadcasting. The combination of continuous streaming at 10 times slower than the live action, with the alternative of instant ultra-slow motion replays at thousands of frames per second, makes this the most versatile solution ever. The X10 will accelerate the acceptance of ultra-slow motion into the mainstream of broadcasting.”
The X10 system is a fully broadcast-integrated solution, and includes a Vision Research high-speed HD camera, a camera control unit, an operational control panel, a slow-motion remote panel (for use in ultra-slow motion replay mode), and is used with an EVS XT3 production server.
