IBC2025: OTT and streaming under the spotlight in Amsterdam

As streaming continues to reshape the global media landscape, IBC2025 will dedicate a significant portion of its content programme to exploring the future of OTT platforms, monetisation models, and consumer engagement.

YouTube and Broadcasters: Better Together
Kicking off the OTT track on 12 September (12:00–12:30, Conference Room 1), YouTube’s VP for EMEA, Pedro Pina, joins Channel 4’s Grace Boswood to discuss how the platform is collaborating with broadcasters to reach new audiences. The session will explore strategies for adapting to the shift towards living-room viewing and the tools YouTube offers partners in today’s competitive ecosystem.

The Future of Media Streaming Ecosystems
Later that afternoon (14:00–14:45, Content Everywhere Hall 4 Stage), a panel on The Future of Media Streaming: Ecosystems, AI and the New Content Economy will examine how media companies are evolving into connected ecosystems spanning creation, engagement and monetisation. Speakers from Brightcove, Tencent Cloud, and Zixi will discuss trends including short-form video, AI-driven content engines, superapps, and the demands on next-generation video platforms.

Live Sports at Scale
Delivering premium live sports at scale will be addressed in Live Sports at Scale: Breaking New Ground with Emerging Technology (12 September, 15:00–15:45, Conference Room 1). Industry leaders from BT, NBCUniversal, TelevisaUnivision and JioStar will join SVG’s Ken Kerschbaumer to discuss forecasting, encoding, packaging and delivery challenges, alongside the security and reliability required to keep fans satisfied.

The Business of TV and Smart OS Competition
With smart TV operating systems increasingly controlling the viewing experience, the panel The Business of TV: The Battle for Prominence and the Search for Growth (12 September, 16:45–17:30, Conference Room 1) will examine how broadcasters and streaming platforms can secure visibility in a crowded market. Executives from Vodafone, Rakuten TV, Roku and The Trade Desk will weigh in on the strategies for growth.

Europe’s Streaming Future
European sovereignty in streaming will be explored in How Europe is Redefining Global Streaming (12 September, 17:00–17:45, Content Everywhere Hall 5 Stage). The session will highlight innovation in content, advertising and infrastructure, alongside research from the FAST4EU consortium on the state of FAST and AVOD in Europe. Leaders from OKAST.TV, Bedrock Streaming and MainStreaming will share how collaboration is enabling regional players to scale.

What’s Next in Streaming?
On 13 September (12:00–12:45, Conference Room 1), What Next in Streaming? will look at how platforms can use innovation and experimentation to build services that resonate with audiences in an era of shifting behaviours. Speakers from OUTtv, kweliTV, Sky Deutschland, JioStar India and Everyone TV will explore the mix of content, analytics and personalisation needed to attract and retain subscribers.
