IBC annual 4K 4Charity fun run goes virtual for 2020

IBC 2019 saw BT Sport pundit Robin van Persie taking part in the 4K 4Charity fun run

The IBC 4K 4Charity fun run will be held virtually this year.

The running and walking event hosted in collaboration with IBC takes advantage of fun, healthy activities to raise funds for non-profits focused on increased diversity and inclusion in the technology and media industries.

This year it will also help to raise funds for those most impacted by COVID-19.

The run allows supporters to participate safely from any location. To get started, select a 4K (2.49 mile) or 8K (4.97 mile) distance, print out a race bib, and then complete the route by 30 October at your own pace, whether it is one day or across several days.

Participants are encouraged to share their unique 4K 4Charity journey on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or Twitter, with social tag @4K4Charity or #4K4Charity. All registrants will receive a finisher’s medal at the conclusion of the event period.

A portion of proceeds from the 4K 4Charity virtual event will benefit Technovation, a global tech education non-profit that empowers girls and families to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers in their lives and communities. It will also support UNICEF, which is on the ground in more than 190 countries, partnering with front-line responders to keep children healthy and learning, and protected from sickness and violence.

“We are delighted to be working with 4K 4Charity again this year and very much look forward to seeing everyone’s virtual runs around the world during IBC Showcase and beyond. Thanks to the support of so many people in our industry, 4K 4Charity has raised an amazing amount of money over the years and once again it will be supporting some excellent causes,” said Michael Crimp, CEO, IBC

Officially supported by IBC, the 4K 4Charity Fun Run Series is hosted by AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services company, and is supported through the generosity of industry sponsors. To date, the event series has raised more than $1.2 million in gross proceeds and welcomed thousands of participants who have taken over a million steps for diversity and inclusion.

Registration for the IBC 4K 4Charity fun run is open at 4k4charity.com/ibc and donations will be accepted through to 30 October.
