SVG Europe Audio was in Amsterdam at IBC catching up with all our friends in the sports broadcast sound community. There was a plethora of innovation, product launches and partnerships announced, covering everything from high fidelity audio, new consoles, sound in the cloud, and AI-driven automated mixing. Here is a roundup of the top audio news from the show.
Last week, Ross Video announced that it had acquired Lama, the developer of advanced audio production software known for its innovative live mixing solutions. The deal bolsters Ross’ efforts to provide end-to-end solutions for live production, and gives the Lama team greater backing and support.
Nigel Spratling, vice president of production switchers at Ross Video, spoke with SVG Europe about the deal – and what happens next.
The acquisition reinforces Ross Video’s commitment to providing end-to-end solutions for live production. With Lama, Ross customers will gain access to fully integrated audio mixing tools that complement their existing video workflows, removing silos and streamlining production.
Shure meanwhile advanced the field of audio capture for broadcast with the Shure DCA901 Planar Array Microphone. Designed for sports, studio, and live event production, DCA901 delivers front row sound to viewers while reducing the number of microphones and cables required. With digitally steerable lobes and onboard digital signal processing, engineers can isolate sources, reduce ambient noise, and maintain total control over the mix.
DCA901 is the first product in Shure’s new Arqos portfolio. which is designed with the vision of bringing together array microphones, signal processing and software to deliver cleaner and more precise audio acquisition, remote management, and efficiency for productions.
Available next year, DCA901 replaces traditional workflows and complex setups with a streamlined, high-fidelity solution. DCA901 represents a strategic milestone, expanding Shure’s presence in digital broadcast and sports audio capture, aligning with the company’s vision of seamless, scalable, and software-driven audio systems.
Calrec expanded its family of future-ready self-contained Argo M control surfaces at IBC2025, with the addition of a brand new powerful 48-fader console. Completing the Argo M range and the Argo family, the new console enables broadcasters to utilise the extra fader count whilst still embracing its space-saving design.
Calrec also demonstrated its ImPulse processing core and ImPulseV virtualised cloud audio mixing engine. With the company’s flexible and award-winning True Control 2.0 delivering seamless connectivity, Calrec showed how broadcasters can streamline workflows, boost creativity, reduce costs and adapt to today’s dynamic media landscape.
Building on its long-term relationship with audio metering specialist RTW, Calrec also showcased how it has integrated the company’s brand new TMxCore metering platform across its full range of Argo IP consoles. Based on RTW’s trusted TouchMonitor TM7/TM9 technology, the TMxCore introduces several processing resources aimed at supporting evolving workflows in broadcast, post production and immersive audio.
NBC Sports has enhanced its audio production over recent years with Dante. The network has consistently embraced cutting-edge technology to enhance its productions, and one of the most transformative technologies in its workflow has been Dante, an AV-over-IP platform designed for cross-brand compatibility, reliability, and efficiency.
Audinate was at IBC2025 talking about Dante and NBC. Introduced to NBC Sports in 2016, Dante has become the backbone of the broadcaster’s audio and communication systems, changing how the network handles large scale, complex productions. Dante empowers the network to push the boundaries of live broadcasting, from intercom systems to audio mixing, playing a crucial role in delivering seamless audio experiences for NBC Sports.
IBC2025 saw Salsa Sound once again releasing several innovative new products that are set to continue the revolution in live broadcast audio. Salsa officially released MIXaiR 4.0, which boasts great new features. The most significant introduction in this release is the refreshed user interface which is now fully browser-based, offering easy remote access to the software instance which can operated by any number of simultaneous users in different locations, all with customised permissions.
Salsa also showcased its new video-based automated audio mixing solutions, further expanding its extensive AI abilities, and assisting broadcasters to provide even more compelling audio mixes for their customers. MIXaiR 4.0 now also supports ST2110 and NMOS management to completement the existing SRT, NDI and Dante and other audio connectivity for ease of integration in almost any system.
Audio-Technica presented an interactive experience to showcase its range of broadcast microphones at IBC2025. Visitors were able to view a selection of videos featuring recent broadcast, performance and sound design projects on a large video wall, with accompanying audio routed over a Dante network to Audio-Technica’s ATH-M50X studio monitor headphones. The video content featured audio captured using the company’s microphones, with some offering multiple audio sources so visitors can compare different microphones.
The central focus of the show was the BP3600, Audio-Technica’s immersive audio microphone, which has been favoured by top tier broadcasters such as Dorna for the MotoGP, among many others.
Lawo cemented its position as a global innovator in IP-native broadcast infrastructure and media production tools. With a clear focus on software-defined workflows, flexible deployment models and cloud-ready architecture, the company presented a forward-thinking portfolio of innovations that enables broadcasters to build agile, scalable, and highly efficient production environments.
From infrastructure management and virtualised DSP to user-centric control solutions and software enhancements for radio and TV production, Lawo is providing the tools to shape the next generation of media workflows.
Prodys unveiled its latest innovations for Quantum2 W and Quantum2 AV at IBC2025. WebCommentator is Prodys’ lightweight HTML5-based solution for remote sports event commentary. Integrated with Quantum2 AV, it enables up to two remote commentators to work from anywhere with just a web browser and internet connection.
Each commentator receives a video feed through an independent stream and has access to a dedicated command channel for coordination with producers or MCR technicians. No additional hardware is required, making it a simple, scalable and cost effective solution for high quality remote coverage
BBright showcased a cutting edge live demonstration at IBC2025, hosted on the Ultra HD Forum stand. This end-to-end workflow leverages the latest SMPTE ST 2110-41 standard to power a fully IP-based Ultra HD broadcast chain, delivering native Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos with real-time metadata synchronisation, immersive audio, and HDR accuracy.
The technical showcase featured:
- BBright playout, outputting ST 2110-20/30/40/41 streams (video, audio and metadata)
- Dolby Ultra HD Repo File containing ISXD (dynamic HDR metadata) and MGA (Metadata Guided Audio) with S-ADM (Serial Audio Definition Model)
- Canal+ providing Ultra HD content in the Repo file format
- Jünger Audio processing and monitoring of audio and S-ADM
- Ateme Titan live encoder, delivering Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos in a native 2160p encoded stream.
Telos Alliance has expanded its collaboration with Videomenthe that integrates Minnetonka AudioTools Server into SaaS media supply chain platform, Eolementhe. The partnership was showcased at IBC2025, offering broadcasters, post production houses, and content distributors new ways to streamline audio processing and compliance within a single scalable SaaS platform.
The AudioTools Server offers file-based audio capabilities, including AI-assisted workflows, comprehensive loudness control, Dolby encoding, language detection, MPEG-H authoring and file-based QC. Now, these tools are available as part of Videomenthe’s Eolementhe collaborative platform, a unified, automated media processing environment, helping customers move faster from ingest to delivery while meeting global technical standards.
Telos Alliance, Jünger Audio, and TVU Networks unveiled a new collaboration to integrate Telos Alliance’s portfolio of cloud‑enabled audio solutions directly into TVU Networks’ MediaMesh platform, delivering next generation audio capabilities for broadcasters and content creators worldwide.
Telos Alliance and Fraunhofer IIS demonstrated the first complete IP production and broadcasting chain utilising MPEG-H Audio to transport audio and S-ADM metadata over SMPTE ST 2110-30 and 2110-41 at IBC2025.
Making its IBC debut, Voyage Audio showcased its Spatial Mic Dante and highlight recent success stories from major broadcast events. Spatial Mic Dante, a 360° microphone designed for professional broadcast, immersive audio, and live production, has quickly become a trusted tool for networks and engineers around the world. Most recently, the microphone has been deployed in high-profile sporting events and live broadcasts, delivering pristine, immersive sound that captures the full energy of the game-day atmosphere.
MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems began rolling out a new generation of audio and video monitoring tools at IBC2025 that are engineered to support embedded 12G-SDI and IP audio monitoring.
The company’s first entry to the new Crescendo Series, the C16-AM-12G is its first inhouse-designed audio monitor, carrying over the proven feature sets of its acquired Census audio monitor line while adding support for 12G and IP workflows.
Engineered to deliver more cost effective connectivity for touring, fly pack and installed systems, Solid State Logic’s (SSL’s) new plug-and-play IP-native MPL 16-8 stagebox made its global debut with System T at IBC2025.
Designed to meet the diverse needs of a range of compact and scalable systems, the MPL 16-8 is a Dante-enabled stagebox that delivers streamlined audio connectivity for the SSL System T platform.
Netherlands-based production company The Outstanding Podiumtechniek is pushing the boundaries of its traditional client base with the adoption of a 48-fader S500m SSL System T console. Founded by Diablo Mense in 2018, the company delivers production expertise across professional sound, lighting and video disciplines. With a history in theatre and live FOH production, since taking delivery of its first SSL System T console the company has evolved into a high end production company operating at the cutting edge of live broadcast and esports.
Cobalt Digital headed to IBC2025 with an expanded line up of IPMX-compliant products and solutions that highlight its simple ‘plug and play’ approach to ST 2110. Visitors experienced first-hand how Cobalt is redefining versatility with a line up that includes converters, encoders, audio monitors, and multiviewers available in a variety of form factors ranging from openGear cards to standalone units, all designed to reduce complexity without compromising performance.
AI-Media showcased its Lexi Voice platform, marking the solution’s official launch into the European market. Following its debut at NAB Las Vegas earlier this year, Lexi Voice sets a new benchmark for live, multilingual accessibility with real time voice translation and subtitling. It helps broadcasters and content owners meet the new European Accessibility Act (EAA) 2025 requirements for inclusivity as well.
Lexi Voice is speech-to-speech Ttanslation (S2ST) with the largest selection of translation engines and synthetic voices to deliver natural-sounding, real time alternative language tracks for live broadcasts.
AudioShake launched its first streaming-capable SDKs designed specifically for music detection and removal. The SDK allows media production teams to automatically detect and remove copyrighted music in their live or post production content, helping them avoid fines and takedowns associated with copyright infringement.
Clear-Com showcased a full line up of intercom innovations for broadcast professionals at IBC2025. On display was the latest addition to the FreeSpeak wireless family, the FreeSpeak Icon beltpack, the adaptable Arcadia Central Station, and new enhancements to Clear-Com’s virtual intercom portfolio.
The FreeSpeak Icon beltpack, released earlier this year, delivers robust wireless performance on 1.9GHz (DECT). With nine programmable buttons, four channel volume controls and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, it supports fast-paced broadcast environments where communication clarity is critical.
