IBSF seals partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery for Olympic season

The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe have announced a new partnership that will increase global visibility of the sports of bobsleigh and skeleton across Europe during the 2025/2026 Olympic winter season.

The agreement, unveiled at the IBSF World Cup season opener at the redeveloped Olympic track in Cortina d’Ampezzo, includes a dedicated highlights programme covering all IBSF World Cups broadcast in more than 50 countries on Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, as well as on the discovery+ and HBO Max streaming platforms. In Germany – where bobsleigh and skeleton enjoy exceptional popularity – Eurosport 1 will also offer fans live coverage of certain World Cups, including Cortina.

The partnership will see bobsleigh and skeleton reach a combined audience of more than 150 million households across Europe, complementing IBSF’s existing broadcast and streaming relationships in key territories.

Trojan Paillot, SVP, sports rights acquisitions and syndication at WBD Sports Europe, said: “As part of our road to the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, our ambition is to tell the stories of the superhuman athletes set to compete by bringing coverage of more winter sports than ever to the widest possible audience. By adding bobsleigh and skeleton to our portfolio, fans will benefit from improved access to the World Cup season and will be able to enjoy even more action featuring the sport’s biggest stars in one place on our channels and platforms.”

“There is no better moment than an Olympic season to present our adrenaline-packed sports to a global audience, tapping into new markets and further boosting visibility in existing ones,” said IBSF president Ivo Ferriani. “Our athletes combine peak performance with extraordinary courage – launching with ‘max-power’ starts, reaching speeds of up to 150km/h, and experiencing gravitational forces of up to over 5G. They will undoubtedly captivate long-time fans and newcomers of all ages. We are thrilled about having Warner Bros. Discovery with their outstanding storytelling and broad coverage on our side – this is a great day for our sports.”

Bobsleigh and skeleton now form part of WBD’s enhanced premium winter sports offering for the 2025/2026 season, which currently spans 13 disciplines – including alpine skiing, biathlon and ski jumping – and features every World Cup and World Championship event (excluding the Nordics, where rights vary by market), in addition to all 116 medal events from the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
