Imagine Communications renews as Platinum Sponsor for SVG Europe

SVG Europe Platinum Sponsor, Imagine Communications, has renewed its support for the association for yet another year. The company pointed to SVG Europe’s creation of, “a forum to understand what the industry needs,” as the key driver behind its continued backing.

Imagine Communications’ Mathias Eckert

Commented Mathias Eckert, SVP and GM EMEA and APAC, playout and networking solutions at Imagine Communications: “There is no doubt that sport is a huge driver for innovation in media; probably the most important. What SVG Europe gives Imagine Communications is the opportunity to meet and share experiences, between broadcasters and production companies, and between technology users and developers.

“It gives us a forum to understand what the industry needs; its vision for the future and its ideas for even greater audience engagement. And of course, it gives us an environment where we can talk to decision makers about what we are working on that will support them address their business challenges and help drive more revenue,” Eckert continued.

He noted: “SVG Europe’s events attract all the key players in this dynamic industry, and create an atmosphere of open and collegiate communication. That is rare in our industry, and we are very pleased to be a part of this community.”

Eckert added: “The future of sport lies in Ultra HD with 4K and higher resolutions; in more cameras for greater access and insight; and in more outputs to maintain engagement across multiple platforms in real time. Imagine Communications offers industry-leading solutions for live production and so SVG remains an ideal forum for us to discuss applications and refine our offering.”

He commented on Imagine Communications’ history: “We were the first major industry player to point to IP as the communications platform of the future. We were also the first to both propose and demonstrate software-defined networks as the route to agility and efficiency. Furthermore, we were a founder member of AIMS, which drove forward standardisation issues like SMPTE ST 2110.”

Imagine Communications’ Selenio network processor

Going forward, Imagine Communications is focused on the sports production market, said Eckert: “Today we are delivering solutions in the sports market that leverage these next generation technologies to meet real goals. Headline projects include the all-IP trucks we have integrated for major players like tpc in Switzerland and Global Production in Italy.”

He went on: “Alongside major systems solutions we have key software-defined, hybrid products which are transforming sports production. These include the Platinum IP3 router, which integrates mixed-format video and audio routing, multiviewer functionality, mux/demux, frame sync and advanced I/O options such as MADI and fibre, all within a single, space-saving frame, ideally suited to live production applications. With the addition of a module that provides a best-in-class, multichannel uncompressed over IP (UCIP) solution, the Platinum IP3 becomes the central gateway in a hybrid IP/SDI routing environment.”

Imagine Communications’ EPIC MV multiviewer allows for instantly reconfigurable monitor stacks without a heavy hardware overhead. EPIC provides a single canvas for mixed signal types. Scalable to thousands of PiPS and hundreds of displays, it offers a high quality, low-TCO monitoring solution for today’s hybrid environments and a seamless transition path to an IP future. EPIC MV is powered by Zenium, our pure microservices-based software platform.

In addition, its award-winning Selenio Network Processor (SNP), a next-gen, FPGA-based 1RU solution which functions as both an SDI-to-IP gateway and an all-IP-capable signal processing platform, is well established in this market. Concluded Eckert: “Our Magellan SDN Orchestrator software control system enables production teams to switch and interwork seamlessly between HD, Ultra HD and uncompressed real-time SMPTE ST 2110 streams. “
